The core difference between stranded bare copper wire and tinned copper wire lies in their surface treatment and applicable scenarios: bare wire has higher conductivity but is prone to oxidation, while tinned wire is more corrosion-resistant but slightly more expensive.
Stranded Bare Copper Wire
Composition: Multiple strands of pure copper twisted together, with no surface coating.
Features: Excellent conductivity, low cost, but easily oxidizes to form verdigris; requires use in sealed or dry environments.
Applicable scenarios: Inside equipment, vacuum environments, or as a base material for tin plating.
Tinned Copper Wire
Composition: Bare copper wire with a tin plating on the surface.
Features: Strong oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and conductivity is slightly lower than bare copper wire but negligible.
Applicable scenarios: Automotive wiring harnesses, home appliance PCB boards, outdoor cables, and other environments requiring high reliability.
*Earthing conductor for fixed installation in ground.
* Suitable for buried installation. Not allowed to use in overhead lines
* During the laying and handling operations, special care and measures shall be taken to avoid
torisional stresses on the conductor
- Minimum bending radius: 20 times the diameter of the bare conductor expressed in millimeters (mm)
- Pulling forces: (during laying operations)
Pulling forces applied to the conductor shall not exceed a value of
F=50 x S (Newton, N) where “S” is the cross-sectional area of the conductors (mm2) and 50 N/mm2 is
the permissible tensile stress with a maximun of 1500N.
* The product must not be exposed to constant tensile stresses
Resistant to underground corrosion: This is a typical copper quality. The copper oxide patina (verdigris),
created on the surface layer by oxidation, acts as an insulator, preventing corrosion (on normal soils)
Easy to install: They are supplied as coils with an oversized winding core to avoid deformation and
facilitate installation.
* Concentric-lay stranded
* The copper conductor is manufactured from an annealed copper wire.
* Popular Copper Strands 7, 19, 37or more wires.
* IEC 60228-2 / EN 60228-2
* ASTM B3
* NF C 32-013
* Other National Standards can also be applied
