Aluminum wire is a metal wire made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, showing a silvery white luster, low density (2.7g/cm³), good conductivity (pure aluminum conductivity is about 62% IACS). It has both ductility and oxidation resistance, and can be processed into filaments, stranded wires or composite wires. It is widely used in power transmission, lightweight automotive wiring harnesses (30% lighter than copper) and handicraft production. It needs to be protected in high temperature or humid environments to avoid corrosion and strength loss.
Classification by material:
Pure aluminum wire: such as 1050, 1060, 1070 and other models;
aluminum wire:such as 2A02, 2024, 5052, 6061, 7075 and other models.
Special type:Bimetallic composite wire (such as copper-clad aluminum wire): combines the aluminum
core and the copper layer, combining conductivity and lightweight characteristics.
Physical properties:It has a silvery-white metallic luster, a light texture (density 2.70g/cm³), and has both
ductility and plasticity. It can be processed into various forms such as rods, sheets, and wires.
Material properties: Pure aluminum wire: The conductivity is as high as 62% IACS, but the tensile
strength is low (about 70MPa);
Alloy aluminum wire: By adding elements such as magnesium and silicon (such as 6000 series alloys),
the tensile strength can be increased to 220MPa, while maintaining 50% IACS conductivity, meeting
the needs of high-intensity scenarios.
Core Uses of Aluminum wire:
Industry and Power Fields: Used as a conductor for power transmission lines or connecting wires for
electrical equipment, it is cheaper than copper wire and suitable for large-scale power transmission;
Replacing copper wire in automotive wiring harnesses to achieve lightweight (weight reduction of about
30%) and cost reduction (cost reduction of 35%), especially showing potential in small wire diameter
(0.35mm²) applications.
Industrial aluminum wire: used for power transmission (such as power transmission lines) or internal
connecting wires for electrical equipment;
Craft aluminum wire: used in electronic component welding, zipper manufacturing, handicraft processing
and other scenarios.
