How To Choose Overhead Conductors

1) Low-voltage overhead Conductor transmission lines generally use bare Conductor stranded transmission wires.

Insulated wires should only be used in places close to residential buildings and narrow streets, dense buildings, and low overhead heights.

Overhead Conductor transmission lines should not use single-stranded wires or stranded wires that have been broken.


2) Adequate mechanical strength should be ensured.

The overhead  Conductor transmission wire itself has a certain weight and is subject to external forces such as wind, rain, ice and snow during operation, so it must have a certain mechanical strength.

In order to avoid disconnection accidents, the cross-sectional area of overhead  Conductor transmission wires should generally not be less than 16mm2.


3) The allowable current carrying capacity of the  Conductor transmission wire should be able to meet the requirements of the load.

The actual load current of the  Conductor wire should be less than the allowable current carrying capacity of the wire.


4) The voltage loss of the circuit should not be too large.

Since the transmission Conductor wire has a certain resistance, voltage loss will occur when the current passes through the  Conductor wire. The thinner and longer the  Conductor wire, the greater the load current, the greater the voltage loss, and the lower the voltage at the end of the  Conductor line, which even cannot meet the voltage requirements of electrical equipment.

Therefore, it should generally be ensured that the voltage loss of the transmission Conductor line does not exceed 5%.
