Saudi Arabia launched the first scale wind power project tender

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of crude oil, launched the first large-scale wind power project tender.

Saudi Arabia's Department of Energy announced in a statement on Sunday that the first scale wind power project is located in the Dumat Al Jandal region with an installed capacity of 400 megawatts. Interested enterprises can submit the relevant qualification by August 10, starting from January 2018, qualified enterprises can submit tenders.

It is reported that Saudi Arabia plans to invest 50 billion US dollars in the next decade to build 30 wind farms and solar power stations to promote the transformation of energy structure, reduce the proportion of oil consumption. Saudi Arabia plans to achieve renewable energy by 2023 to 10% of the electricity.

In addition to the 400 MW wind power project, the government also plans to tender a 700 MW renewable energy project in the second half of the year. Saudi Energy Department earlier this month has announced a qualified candidate bids, a total of 51tender biders.
