Kenya spent $ 100 million to upgrade the capital transmission line
Kenya Power Transmission Company has announced that it will invest 100 million US dollars to connect the Athi River area and the capital of Nairobi transmission line modernization upgrade.
The announcement said that the transmission line upgrade to this path is to improve the transmission capacity and supply stability of the export processing zones, the Athi River area cement and steel enterprises and the school institutions.
The upgrade of the transmission line is financed by the Government of Kenya, the French Development Agency and the European Investment Bank.
It is noteworthy that the upgraded Suswa-Isinya transmission line will be increased from the existing 220 kV to 400 kV, in addition to improving the transmission capacity at the same time, but also for the future to achieve Kenya and Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Not only that, this transmission line or an important channel connecting the Kenya wind farm, after the completion of the upgrade, during the peak period, can also transport geothermal power generation and hydropower.
