Dongfang Electric and China Power Construction Cooperate to Expand Zimbabwe's Largest Power Plant
Recently, China Dongfang Electric and China Power Construction Group signed a contract to supply engines for the Wanji Thermal Power Plant in Zimbabwe.
Earlier this year, Zimbabwe said it plans to expand the country's largest 920-megawatt Hwange power plant, estimated at a cost of 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Dongfang Electric official website said it will provide three engines for two 335 MW coal-fired generating units at the Wanji Thermal Power Plant. Official website did not disclose the details of the contract signed on Friday.
China Power Construction and Zimbabwe in early July signed the contract for the expansion of thermal power plant engineering, procurement and construction.
Given the rapid changes in the political situation, whether the work of power projects will be stagnant, Dongfang Electric and China Power Construction did not give an immediate response.
Earlier, Dongfang Electric and China Power Construction had already cooperated with power projects in Pakistan, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Turkey and Ethiopia.
